A tomato of my own!

Late in the afternoon around the beginning of August I went out to water my tomato plants and lo and behold I had a tomato hanging on the vine. I about jumped up and down. Of course, I ran in the house, grabbed my camera, and snapped a picture. It was about the size of a quarter when I took the photo below.
Now I have 7 tomatoes on the vine and the one picture above is about the size of a baseball. I can't wait to eat those suckers. Yum!

My strawberries didn't do bad this year either. I planted a single plant last year and I bet this year I had 5 plants come back and then about 15 runners so far. I have picked around 30 strawberries. Granted they aren't huge berries, but they were there and the boys have loved every minute of it.

Strawberries

I guess a few managed to survive the goat attack last week.
There were only two of the very few that are left that were ripe.
The boys gobbled them up. After Michael washed them of course.

Marigold's, Tomatoes, and Strawberries

A few days back, maybe a week even, I mentioned that Mom sent me home with Marigolds to plant. Wednesday afternoon, I finally had a chance to snap a picture of them. If you look close on at the petals you can see some rain droplets and a little visitor, too.  Isn't he cute? If you'd like to see a bigger version, stop by my photography blog.
Next, we have one of our strawberry plants. You can see the little ones growing, slowly but surely. Last year we bought a lone plant at Lowe's. This year three grew back. I read somewhere that you could do something to the runners and get more plants. Anyone care to explain?

Last, but certainly not least we have one of our tomato plants that my Dad gave us. This one is a yellow tomato. I don't know the specific type. He also gave us three of these and a purple one. I think four plants should be a good amount for us as long as they grow good. How many would u plant?
