Do you know that if you wash two loads of laundry a day for a year with the homemade detergent instead of Tide you will save $65.70?
It cost me $18.30 OOP {out of pocket} to purchase the supplies for my first batch of Homemade Laundry Detergent. However, I had some supplies left over. So really, I paid $15.67 for 161 loads. Which is approximately $0.09 per load. Compare that to Tide at $0.18 a load. Pretty awesome, huh?
To top it off... this stuff actually works; my clothes come out smelling great and very clean.

That's cool- do you think it would work in a front loader?
I'm pretty sure my Aunt said she uses it in hers. Let me ask her to be sure. I'll let you know soon.
Ok, I asked my Aunt and she said she uses the liquid version, but doesn't make any changes to the recipe. You can see my SILs liquid laundry detergent tutorial here :

Hey This is really cool! I just might give it a try. Thanks for posing!
Your very welcome :)
Looks like a great way to save some money...thanks for posting!
It is and your very welcome :)
I've made & used both the liquid and the dry. I love the powdered version because it's much easier to make. I took a break from making these and bought cheap for awhile, but none were as frugal as the homemade! So today I bought the ingredients to make the powdered again. I love the smell! (I also have used Pink Zote bars and they gave a nice pretty-pink detergent). Happy Detergent-making! :) -Tammy
I've never tried the pink zote bars, but I'm gonna see if I can find them around here.
