Homegrown Watermelons!

A few of the watermelons we got off of  the vine yesterday. We didn't intentionally plant them. They just came up from where we threw out seeds last year. If I had known it was that easy to grow them, we'd have done it long before now if we had the room. The vines ended up taking over about 1/2 of our yard.
Here is one we cut about a week ago. It was red inside (obviously), but not very sweet. I can't wait to cut one tomorrow and see how tastes. We know nothing in regards to when they are ready to be picked, so we've been just picking them when we thought they looked ready. That was not the greatest idea. We've had several that were still solid white inside. The 'melons that were picked yesterday, had to be brought in. The vines were dried out. Lets hope they are ripe. Wish us luck!
